Coconino Community College to Add Men’s and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track Programs in 2025-2026

Flagstaff, Ariz. – Coconino Community College (CCC) is thrilled to announce the addition of men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track programs starting in the 2025-2026 school year. This expansion marks a significant milestone in CCC’s commitment to providing diverse athletic opportunities for its students and enhancing its athletic department.

The introduction of track and field programs aligns with CCC’s strategic goals of promoting student engagement and success through athletics. These new programs will offer student-athletes more opportunities to compete, develop their skills, and achieve their athletic and academic goals.

“Adding track and field to our athletic offerings is a natural progression for our college,” said CCC Athletic Director Craig Hunt. “We are excited to provide our students with more opportunities to excel in sports and represent our college at various levels of competition.”

The new track programs will include both indoor and outdoor seasons, catering to a wide range of events such as sprints, middle-distance and long-distance races, hurdles, relays, jumps, and throws. This comprehensive approach ensures that athletes of various specialties will have the chance to compete and thrive.

“Springboarding off of the success of our cross country teams, our track and field programs will absolutely be distance heavy the first season, but with time we aim to produce a well-rounded team with representation in every event” stated Hunt.

To build competitive teams, CCC will begin recruiting student-athletes immediately. The college is looking to attract top talent from high schools and clubs across the region, as well as current CCC students interested in joining the new programs.

The addition of the track programs is expected to have a positive impact on the local community. By expanding our athletic sports, the CCC community will have a common connection to rally behind and cheer for. The programs will also provide local high school athletes with more opportunities to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

The 2025-2026 school year promises to be an exciting time for CCC as the new track programs take shape. With the introduction of men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track, CCC is not only expanding its athletic offerings but also reinforcing its commitment to student success and community involvement.

Coconino Community College invites all prospective student-athletes and track enthusiasts to join this exciting new chapter. Student-athletes interested in participating in CCC athletics are encouraged to complete the recruiting questionnaire.
